Parent and Teacher Compact

Sycamore Elementary School School-Parent Compact 2026-2027 Sycamore Elementary School and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA) (participating children), agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staf , and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the state’s high standards. School Responsibilities Sycamore Elementary School will: ● Provide high quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the state’s student academic achievement standards. The school will use scientific, research-based programs and best practices to encourage active engagement and collaboration while also developing critical thinking skills. ● Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress. Communication folders will be sent home regularly to notify parents of student progress and conduct. Progress reports will be sent home during the 5 th week of each nine week grading period, and report cards will be sent home once every nine weeks. ● Provide parents reasonable access to staff and hold parent-teacher conferences. Staff will schedule parent conferences as needed or requested by the parent during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Staff will also be available prior to each PTA meeting. Teachers can be contacted by school phone, school email, or notes sent to the classroom. ● Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class and to observe classroom activities. Parents may become a part of our volunteer program simply by expressing an interest and attending a training session. Parent workshops are also provided throughout the school year to equip parents to support their children at home for increased academic success. ● Ensure regular two-way, meaningful communication between family members and school staff, and, to the extent practicable, in a language that family members can understand. ____________________________________________ ____________________________________________ Principal Signature Date Teacher Signature Date Parent Responsibilities We, as parents, will support our children’s learning in the following ways: ● Monitoring my child’s attendance ● Participating, as appropriate, in decisions relating to my child’s education ● Staying informed about my child’s education and communicating with the school by promptly reading all notices from the school or the school district ● Serving, to the extent possible, on parent advisory groups and committees ● Volunteering in my child’s school ● Encouraging my child to set goals inside and outside the classroom and helping my child work toward reaching those goals ● Reading daily with my child to promote a love for reading and helping my child complete any homework that is assigned ● Communicating regularly with my child’s teacher through email, Class Dojo or Remind, written notes, the communication folder, and/or in person Student Responsibilities We, as students, will share responsibility for our learning by: ● Listening and following directions ● Participating daily ● Being responsible for transporting the communication folder between home and school ● Working hard and trying our best ● Using all supplies responsibly I have read and agree to the conditions of the 2026-2027 School-Parent Compact: ____________________________________________ ____________________________________________ Parent Signature Date Student Signature Date
